Planning a Lasallian Legacy

Since 1853, the Lasallian vision of education has been central to the mission of Manhattan College. This vision stresses excellence in teaching, respect for individual dignity, and strong Catholic social values. Maintaining the vitality of the College’s unique mission will be an enduring challenge. If the value-centered education you received at Manhattan has been a vital part of your life and work, then you may want to plan for the future strength of your alma mater. You can help by naming Manhattan College in your will. Bequests, both large and small, have played a key role in meeting the College’s challenge.

There are various ways to make Manhattan the beneficiary of your estate:

  1. You may make an outright bequest of cash, securities, or any type of property. A specific amount, or a percentage of your estate, may be passed on to the College.
  2. You may leave the residual of your estate to Manhattan. After your loved ones and other beneficiaries receive a designated portion of your estate, the remainder of the estate may be left to the College.  This allows for changes in family and financial situations by ensuring that your loved ones are the primary recipients of your estate.
  3. You may establish a trust, providing income for your loved ones during their lifetimes. Upon the death of the last recipient, the College will receive the assets of the trust.

The following examples include language you may use in a clause naming Manhattan College in your will.
